Georgia Bulldogs' star safety Dan Jackson did not receive an invite to the NFL Combine to showcase his talents in front of NFL several scouts and coaches, leaving many surprised, including his fellow teammate Smael Mondon.
While speaking to reporters in Indianapolis this week, Mondon went on about what evaluators will be missing out on by not seeing Jackson work out at the combine.
"Just the competitor he is, you know, because Dan came to Georgia, has a walk-on so for him to work and, like, turn into the player he is today," Mondon said. "He wasn't always the player he was today, but, he worked into that though. Some guys are just born with that talent, but Dan's a hard-working guy, and then I feel like work ethic is one of the things that keeps you in the league. So a guy that works as hard as Dan, I feel like that's what they're missing [out on]. And Dan, I feel like he's a culture builder because, like he pulls people around and he pulls guys up with him."
The NFL Combine committee's decision to ultimately not invite Jackson is so surprising because not only did he have a great senior season with the Bulldogs, but he also turned heads during the Reese's Senior Bowl earlier this month.
In his final year at Georgia, Jackson logged a career-high 64 tackles, two interceptions, three pass breakups, and a forced fumble.
While evaluators will be missing Jackson at the combine this week, he will get a chance to work out again at Georgia's Pro Day, which is rumored to be scheduled for Wednesday, March 12.
If Jackson does well at the Pro Day, then he should have no problem finding a new home at the next level come April's NFL Draft.
