The Georgia Bulldogs are SEC conference champions after taking down the Texas Longhorns in Atlanta at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday.

Georgia will now get more than three weeks of some much-needed rest before they kick off their College Football Playoff run on Jan. 1. Those "off" days will be extra important considering they are dealing with injuries to starting quarterback Carson Beck and punter Brett Thorson.

Beck left Georgia's win over Texas early with a right elbow injury in the first half and returned for just the final snap in overtime.

Head coach Kirby Smart could not exactly pinpoint Beck's injury right after their win, but he had some more answers during Sunday's call.

"I'm still trying to get that knowledge myself," Smart said. "He did get to have an MRI this morning. We should get the results here in the next few hours. We just had a team meeting. He was there for the team meeting, but we don't know much more than we knew last night as of right now. We should be finding something out here soon."

Beck went to throw a Hail Mary right before the clock ran out of the first half but was sacked while in throwing motion when he was injured.

"The elbow area is what we understand it to be. At the time, I didn't know walking off the field. I wasn't sure. It looked like it could be shoulder like it could be wrist," Smart said. "It actually looked like the blow or the contact was to the wrist-slash-forearm area, but the strain or pain was around the elbow."

Beck completed 7 of 13 passes for 56 yards before exiting the game.

While Smart couldn't provide too much on the status of Beck's injury, he did hint at how Beck was feeling on Sunday.

"Yeah, he was at a team meeting. I think he had just gotten back from the MRI, so I think he was pretty somber," Smart said. "A tough deal for him in terms of not being able to go out there and finish in the second half. But he's also excited for his teammates and happy that it ended the way it did, and ironically he got to be on the field for that."

Smart also noted that the team was still waiting on MRI results for Thorson, who injured his knee in the third quarter and left the stadium on crutches.
