Second-year NFL cornerback and Georgia legend, Kelee Ringo, returned to Athens on Saturday for G-Day to watch some of his former teammates compete in the annual Red vs. Black spring game.
Ringo will forever be known as the Bulldogs player who broke Georgia's national championship dry spell.
For those who may have forgotten, Ringo was the one who intercepted Alabama's Bryce Young and ran it back 79 yards for the game-winning touchdown during the 2021 college football national championship.
Thanks to Ringo, the Bulldogs' win over Alabama marked their first national championship victory since 1980, and the start of Georgia's football dynasty as the Bulldogs would go on to win the title game again in 2022.
Ringo enjoyed an overall outstanding career at Georgia where he started 27 of the 30 games for the Bulldogs, recording 76 total tackles (63 solo), 19 passes defensed, and four interceptions for one of the best defenses in the nation.
He was drafted in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft after the Philadelphia Eagles traded up to get him.
In his first year in the NFL, Ringo played in all 17 games and made 4 starts, logging 1 interception, 1 sack, 21 tackles and 2 pass breakups.
Other former Bulldogs stars who popped by Athens over the weekend included Kamari Lassiter, Javon Bullard, Ladd McConkey, Amarius Mims, Sedrick Van Pran, Marcus Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, Brock Bowers, and Stetson Bennett.
