Head coach Kirby Smart has been very pleased with how his three transfer wide receivers, London Humphreys, Michael Jackson III, and Colbie Young, have acclimated to Georgia's offensive system this fall.
So much so, Smart handed each receiver their flowers following fall camp.
For Humphreys, a transfer from Vanderbilt, Smart noted he was impressed with how much he improved from one scrimmage to the next.
"London (Humphreys) had a big jump from scrimmage one to scrimmage two," Smart said.
For Jackson, the USC transfer, Smart emphasized how reliable he's been for star quarterback Carson Beck.
"He is a guy that's been really reliable for us, a hard worker, competitor, continues to improve and get better," Smart said.
And for Young, the Miami transfer, Smart mentioned his hamstring injury but said he was overall impressed with him.
"Young is currently dealing with a hamstring problem, but I’m pleased with all three of those guys," Smart said.
Georgia's wide receiver room is stacked with talent, though it still remains a bit of a question mark heading into Week 1's matchup against the Clemson Tigers.
Since Rara Thomas was kicked off the team following his arrest and Young is nursing an injury, it's possible both Humphreys and Jackson see themselves playing much larger roles sooner rather than later this season.
The good news is, however, it sounds like they're ready for their numbers to be called according to Smart.
As for Georgia's freshman receivers, Sacovie White and Nitro Tuggle, there is still work to do but being thrown into the fire might actually work out in their favor.
"They need to go out there without coaches and have to execute,” Smart said. “They’re talented football players, but I don’t know if they’re 100 percent reliable right now.”
Soon, we will no longer have to wonder since Georgia football is almost here as we are officially one week and a day away from the Dawgs kicking off against the Clemson Tigers at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 31.
