Former Georgia Bulldogs safety Malaki Starks is expected to start as a rookie for the Baltimore Ravens this fall.

That means expectations are high for Starks, but according to Ravens’ All-Pro safety Kyle Hamilton, he should be able to handle the pressure.

“He’s super-talented. I honestly think he’s miles ahead of where I was at that point,” Hamilton said. “Once it all clicks for him, he’s going to be one of the best in the league. He does amazing stuff without even trying and probably doesn’t even know that he’s doing it. I think he knows the playbook more than I did; he’s confident out there. He’s just so willing to learn.”

If what everyone is saying about Starks breaking out in Year 1 is true, he will most certainly add a terrifying boost to an already dangerous secondary that finished ranked No. 6 last season.

In addition to Hamilton, Baltimore’s secondary also stars Ar’Darius Washington, All-Pro Marlon Humphrey, along with Nate Wiggins and Chidobe Awuzie.

Of course, Starks was very appreciative of what Hamilton had to say, but he knows he still has a lot of work to do before he can reach the level that his teammates are on.

“I think [Hamilton is] being generous,” Starks said. “He’s so smart. You think you know football until you get around people who know football, and then you realize you don’t know that much about football. Being able to learn from him has been huge.

“Just being able to be in that DB room. You look over to your left, and you see Kyle. You look over to your right, and you see Marlon (Humphrey). You see, look over to your left, you see Nate (Wiggins), you see Jaire (Alexander), you see everybody. When they do something, it makes you want to up your level of play.”

Starks has two more preseason games to get more comfortable playing at the next level before games start to count when Baltimore faces the Buffalo Bills in Week 1.
