Former Georgia Bulldogs linebacker Jalon Walker is in Indianapolis this week for the NFL combine. He took a moment to speak about his former teammates, tight end Brock Bowers and linebacker Nolan Smith, and their impact on him during their time together in Athens.

Walker, a projected first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, acknowledged that he had some great mentorship from Smith, who was drafted 30th overall by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023.

"Him being the leader of that team for the Georgia defense in 2022 meant everything for me," Walker said. "So his guidance and his mentoring throughout the years was great for me, and I really appreciate him very much."

As for Bowers, who went 13th overall to the Las Vegas Raiders in 2024, he spent a lot of time riding back and forth to class with Walker. That's when Walker was able to learn about the kind of person Bowers was off of the football field, which is something that he has always admired about him.

"Brock and, I mean, crazy enough, me and Brock had class together," Walker said. "I would drive me and him or [he would] drive back to the facility together. I mean, he's a great guy, a great individual, just not on the football field but as a person."

Walker has not been linked to either the Eagles or Raiders ahead of the draft, so, likely, he won't be reuniting with Bowers or Walker.

However, learning from two of the best in the NFL is certainly a part of the reason why Walker is where he is right now.

Walker also noted that he won't be working out in front of coaches and scouts at the combine and instead will wait for Georgia's Pro Day on Wednesday, March 12.
