The nation's top 2026 quarterback, Jared Curtis, officially committed to the Georgia Bulldogs on Tuesday, May 5, and he's wasting no time in helping head coach Kirby Smart recruit other top talent.

Curtis told On3 Sports' Hayes Fawcett that the one player he's trying to get to join him in Athens is five-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell.

"Spoke with Jared Curtis earlier & he’s eager to take on a recruiting role as Georgia’s leader for the ‘26 Class. When asked who he is targeting most, none other than Five-Star Plus+ OT Jackson Cantwell," Fawcett wrote on X/Twitter.

Cantwell replied to the report two minutes later with a, "Hmm #GoDawgs?"

The timing is ironic considering Cantwell announced last week that he would be taking some extra time before announcing his commitment.

Cantwell was set to make his decision on April 30; however, he shared in a social media post that the date has been pushed back to May 13. Additionally, Cantwell mentioned that he will take an unofficial visit to Georgia on May 10.

Cantwell is a 6-foot-7 and 300-pound offensive tackle from Missouri who is not only the number one player in his state, but also in the nation.

His final decision list comes down to Georgia, Miami, Ohio State, and Oregon.

Shortly after committing, Curtis told reporters exactly why he hopes to convince Jackson to pick red and black.

“Very big, gotta have somebody to protect me,” Curtis told DawgNation’s Jeff Sentell. “So I love Jackson, I’ve talked to Jackson a couple times, and I’m excited to get to meet him and talk to him in person for the first time. So I’m excited.”

Georgia has been pursuing Jackson for some time, and it's not unrealistic to imagine both him and Curtis committing to the Bulldogs, especially with coach Smart reportedly aggressive with NIL offers this recruiting cycle.
