The Georgia Bulldogs and head coach Kirby Smart are getting closer to landing one of the top running back prospects from the 2026 recruiting class.

According to On3 Sports' four-star running back from Moultrie, GA, Jae Lamar, is down to six schools with Georgia on the list.

Per On3's prediction, the Bulldogs have an 81.2% chance of landing Lamar, with the next closest being the Auburn Tigers with a 6.1%

The other teams that Georgia is up against include Florida State, Clemson, Ohio State, and Miami.

Lamar, 6 feet and 205 pounds, has established himself as one of the nation's top running back prospects. On3's industry rankings have him listed as the No. 9 running back in the class of 2026 and No. 13 overall prospect in the state of Georgia.

He will enter his senior year after an outstanding junior season where he rushed for 885 yards on 112 carries, averaging 7.9 yards per attempt, and scored 11 rushing touchdowns. He also contributed two receiving touchdowns, bringing his total to 13 touchdowns for the season.

Last fall, Lamar really made a name for himself in a big rivalry game against Lowndes High School, where he went off for 182 rushing yards on just 13 carries, including a 71-yard touchdown run, and added a 77-yard touchdown catch, racking up a total of 250 all-purpose yards.

Lamar isn't the only prospect from 2026 that Georgia is moving in on.

Local 2026 four-star wide receiver, Ryan Mosley, recently named his top five schools, with Georgia being one of them.
