Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs are in a heated race to sign the best running back from the class of 2026, Savion Hiter, and their hard work appears to be paying off.

Hiter took part in Georgia's Junior Day earlier this month and was very pleased with his visit.

“The Georgia visit was cool," Hiter told On3 Sports. "I got to meet with Coach Smart. He always has good words for me. I got to meet Crawford. I spent time with DHill (staffer David Hill). It’s always great to talk to them.

“They are a top program. I expect a lot out of them.”

Hiter's mom also chimed in on the visit and noted that it was a lot more relaxed than previous informative visits.

“The conversation with Coach (Kirby) Smart and Coach (Josh) Crawford was enlightening," Hiter’s mother Aishia said. "They reiterated that Savion was a top priority and what development he would get if he came there. We also had a chance to meet and engage with more of the staff that we hadn’t met before, who gave some history and statistics of the program.”

Hiter, a five-star running back from Mineral (Va.) is the No. 1 overall prospect in the state of Virginia and No. 20 overall prospect in his recruiting class.

He finished his junior season at Louisa County High School rushing for 1,060 yards on 150 carries, averaging 117 yards per game this past season.

Hiter is also heavily considering Michigan, Tennessee, and Ohio State, however, he is in no rush to finalize his decision.

Official visits are next for the star running back.
