Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart has been very pleased with the running back room throughout spring ball.

Following G-Day, Smart highly praised the room, singling out freshman Bo Walker, sophomore Chauncey Bowens, and others.

"I'm excited for those two (Bo Walker and Chauncey Bowens)," Smart said. "They both got better in the spring, and I thought Dwight (Phillips) had a good spring, Nate (Frazier) had a good spring, and then Cash (Jones) took less reps than anybody because he's the guy that's had the most. But he continues to grow and get better. I'm really excited about all those backs, they had good spring practices."

Georgia's running back room for the upcoming 2025 season is projected to be one of the most talented and deep in college football, blending experienced players with promising newcomers like Walker.

Georgia's Key Returning Running Backs for 2025

  • Nate Frazier: After leading the Bulldogs in rushing during his freshman year, Frazier is expected to be the lead back this fall.
  • Branson Robinson and Roderick Robinson: Both are working to return from injuries that cut their 2024 season short.
  • Cash Jones: Jones is set to continue his role as a reliable third-down back and a threat in the passing game.
  • Chauncey Bowens and Dwight Phillips: These rising sophomores gained valuable experience in 2024 and are expected to contribute more significantly in the upcoming season.

And then there is freshman Walker.

The 5-foot-9, 210-pound all-purpose back from Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School in Georgia was the Bulldogs' top running back signee in the 2025 recruiting class. Although he wasn't the most physical on tape, Walker has impressed coaches with his vision, agility, and pass-catching abilities.

Walker put on a show during Georgia's spring game, leaving a strong impression on both coaches and fans in attendance.

Smart emphasized that there is still plenty of work to be done through summer and fall camp, but the future is looking very bright for Georgia and their backfield in 2025.
