Carson Beck has completely turned his season around at the right time for Georgia. After throwing 11 interceptions in a five-game span Beck has now thrown six touchdowns to just one pick in the three games since. So, what's changed? Kirby Smart doesn't think much has changed at all, but it's hard to argue with the recent results.

Facing off against UMass on Saturday, Beck wasn't expected to need to do much in order to secure the victory, but that didn't stop him from putting up 297 yards and four touchdowns in the lopsided 59-21 victory. The Georgia defense struggled early on, but thanks to Beck's strong performance the Bulldogs ended up pulling away.

Carson Beck's now averaging more than eight yards per pass attempt, completing nearly 64% of his passes, and has completely cleaned up his turnover issues. There hasn't been a more drastic flip of the script for any other quarterback in the nation.

However, when asked about the adjustments that Carson Beck has made in recent weeks to see such improvement in his game, Coach Smart gave a somewhat surprising answer:

"I haven't really seen anything different. I mean, you guys read into the stats. You just look at the stats and say, 'oh, clean game'. There's probably some throws there that could have been picked, but there's also plays in the other games that shouldn't have been picked. So, I look at decision-making and process. [Carson Beck] processes information really well and he executes the offense really well."

It's a bit funny to throw shade at the media saying that they simply just look at the stats when assessing QB play, but this isn't new for Kirby Smart. He's been defending Carson Beck's process, work ethic, and abilities all season long, even when he was clearly struggling. Beck's preparation, work ethic, and drive hasn't likely changed, but it's quite obvious to anyone paying attention that he's also just seeing the field quite a bit better in recent weeks.

Stats certainly aren't everything, but throwing one interception in three weeks versus 11 in five games speaks to a significant shift in how a quarterback is playing. This newfound excellence and consistency is coming at just the right time, as Georgia now finds themselves in position to possibly secure a spot in the SEC Championship game and a home College Football Playoff game (or a bye).

Hopefully Beck's hot streak will continue as he protects the ball and keeps the Georgia offense on schedule as the College Football Playoff approaches. Kirby Smart certainly seems confident that Beck will continue to impress.
