Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart could not provide an update on wide receiver Colbie Young, who was arrested on Tuesday morning for battery and assault

“I know you guys want to know about Colbie [Young] and want to ask about it,” Smart said.” It’s a pending legal matter and I don’t have any answers. I have not even had an opportunity to talk with him yet.”

According to the incident report, Young's ex-girlfriend called the police after the two got into an argument and she felt unsafe. The girlfriend stated in the report that Young “grabbed her left arm near her bicep and tricep and physically pulled her out of his room.” She also claimed that Young “picked her up and began to squeeze her torso and abdomen very hard."

Young was booked at 4:18 a.m. Tuesday morning with a $2,500 bond and released at 1:36 p.m.

His lawyer, Kim Stephens, released a statement nearly an hour later, via Graham Coffey of Dawgs Central

"Colbie Young was arrested last night after he asked his ex-girlfriend to leave his apartment. He did not make physical contact with her in any way that could ever be considered a crime. I expect Mr. Young to be fully exonerated once our investigation is complete and the truth revealed."

Young, a senior transfer from Miami, has played in all five games for Georgia this season, logging 11 catches for 149 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The Bulldogs (4-1) will host Mississippi State at Sanford this Saturday. If Young is unavailable, it could mean more opportunities for Dillon Bell and London Humphreys
