Fox Sports college football analyst Joel Klatt issued a warning to the Georgia Bulldogs ahead of a key early season showdown against the Tennessee Vols.

Georgia opens up SEC play on the road against the Vols on Saturday.

Klatt said on his show this week that Georgia could be walking into a “buzz saw” in Knoxville.

Joel Klatt questions the Georgia Bulldogs’ motivation

Klatt praised the Volunteers for their big 72-17 win against East Tennessee State this past weekend while questioning Georgia’s motivation after a 28-6 win against Austin Peay.

“This (Tennessee) team looks like a very motivated team,” said Klatt. “And a team that, to be honest, I kind of like this week. The way that Georgia looked against Austin Peay was terrible. [Georgia looked] not motivated. Stockton had to throw it 34 times as a starter against an FCS opponent. Meanwhile, Tennessee is out there putting up 72 points. I really like that. This offense can and is and will be potent through the rest of the year. I like what Joey Aguilar has done.

“This is a team that Josh Heupel has gotten ready. They’ve recruited well. So this can be, and probably will be, a pretty successful team. And listen, I think that place (Neyland Stadium) is going to be on fire against Georgia. Georgia might be walking into absolute buzz saw this week.”

I’m not sure questioning the motivation of a Kirby Smart team is a wise idea. Smart is elite when it comes to making sure his team is motivated. With that said, no college football program is perfect. There are some off Saturdays for even the best teams. The Bulldogs clearly weren’t at their best against Austin Peay, but that doesn’t change that this is a championship caliber team.

If anything, Klatt just provided a week’s worth of motivation for the Bulldogs — which is probably bad news for Tennessee.
