Heading into the 2024 college football season, the LSU Tigers were believed to have arguably the two top offensive line prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft class. On Tuesday, All-American left tackle Will Campbell opted to declare for the draft, which wasn’t much of a surprise.

Unlike Campbell, it appears that we may not have seen the last right tackle Emery Jones Jr. on the college level. The expectation, as of now, is that Jones will use his last year of eligibility and return in 2025. That is tremendous news for LSU, who is set to lose three starting offensive linemen this offseason with the losses of Campbell, Garrett Dellinger, and Miles Frazier.

There is an interesting stipulation on the table with Jones returning. He will reportedly move inside to offensive guard for the Tigers next season. A big reason for that is to prepare for the NFL, who views him as an inside player and the urge to see some film of him at guard would be big.

The early feedback from the NFL concerning Jones was that he was viewed as a potential first round prospect this past offseason, with several teams holding grades within that range. On paper, Jones has the size (6-4.5, 319 points), the length (over 34-inch arms), and overall athleticism to project well outside. The technical side of the game, however, is where he suffers most.

On the inside, Jones’ raw power should project very well. His presence is huge for LSU going into the 2025 season, and should develop into one of the best guards in all of college football. There is set to be quite a few defections from this Tiger team this offseason, so having someone like Jones return is huge.
