‘Because I know who Lane Kiffin is’ – Elite 2027 recruit leaves no doubt on how he feels about LSU’s new head coach

No one in college football has been more of a polarizing figure over the last couple of months than new LSU Tigers head coach Lane Kiffin.

Kiffin’s decision to leave the Ole Miss Rebels in the middle of a College Football Playoff run to become the new head coach at LSU ruffled plenty of feathers around the sport (especially in Oxford).

But while there are plenty of folks in college football taking shots at Kiffin, there are also plenty that still have a favorable opinion of the longtime coach.

2027 4-star LSU commit leaves no doubt how he feels about Lane Kiffin

2027 four-star quarterback Peyton Houston committed to LSU in September.

Houston, the No. 8 quarterback in the nation (via 247Sports’ composite rankings), has remained committed to LSU following the hire of Kiffin.

And that’s because Houston, a Louisiana native, believes in who Kiffin is.

“I did not have second thoughts about my decision because I know who Lane Kiffin is,” said Houston to On3 this week. “It’s hard to not want to play for a coach like that. Lane Kiffin is a great coach. The guys that he has around him are great coaches too. Knowing that, knowing that God has put him in this situation and with me already being committed and coach Kiffin previously giving me my second-ever offer, it’s a blessing. I can’t imagine a better situation.”

Houston is actively helping recruit for LSU, which shows his commitment to the program.

The comments from Houston are a reminder that not everything you see on social media is real. Just because folks at Ole Miss are unhappy with Kiffin, doesn’t mean that high school recruits feel the same way.
