Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin talks with quarterback Trinidad Chambliss (6) during a college football game between Mississippi State and Ole Miss at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville, Miss., on Friday, Nov. 28, 2025. Ole Miss defeated Mississippi State 38-19 in the Egg Bowl.

The transfer portal era is quite the experience in college football. With so many players set to enter in a couple of weeks, Lane Kiffin and his new LSU Tigers team will surely be set to pounce on a lot of big names to improve their team on both sides of the ball.

For Kiffin, he is getting some early help from his own son to place nuggets of thought regarding the future into the head of a former player of his. Did Lane ask for Knox Kiffin’s help? Who knows – but he is going to receive it in some capacity, it appears.

Knox Kiffin is recruiting Ole Miss QB Trinidad Chambliss on social media to join LSU

Via a screenshot from Preston Guy, the son of the Tigers new head coach hasn’t wasted any time trying to recruit current Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss to join LSU. That sort of move would have to come in the transfer portal when it opens in early January.

That being said, Chambliss and his team are currently preparing to play in the College Football Playoff. They are heavy favorites in their first-round matchup against Tulane as well. Even with that, Lane’s son is not backing down when it comes to some fun social media antics with the top ten Heisman finalist from this season. (Shocking – I know!)

Keep in mind that Chambliss is currently appealing to get another season of eligibility in college football, and that may or may not be granted as well. That’s another hurdle outside of whether or not he enters the transfer portal.

This is not the first time that Knox Kiffin has jumped into CFB headlines recently, either. Ahead of a game of his own, Knox wore LSU headphones before his dad had announced his departure from Ole Miss. This was one of the first big glimpses into the idea that Kiffin may make the move to LSU.

In a recent predictions piece for transfer quarterbacks, Ryan Roberts chose Arizona State QB Sam Leavitt as his answer for Kiffin’s offense at LSU this offseason. Chambliss was not included as he has not announced intentions to get into the portal. It remains to be seen if he stays in Oxford or not.

“This feels like the perfect fit for both sides. Head coach Lane Kiffin wants a quarterback who can affect a defense with his legs, on top of having a ton of upside with his arm. Leavitt is also a very volatile quarterback who would be best served in an offense that keeps things simple. That is what Kiffin tries to do: allow for easy answers and let the talent take over. There is some early buzz between the two sides, and it is easy to see why.” — Ryan Roberts, A to Z Sports

Only time will tell how all of this shakes out for both the Tigers and Rebels. Regardless, even Lane’s family is getting in on trying to build an incredible roster in Baton Rouge.
