Lack of free agency interest could be signal for the abrupt ending for former LSU All-American without a viable suitor in sight
It feels like just yesterday that cornerback Tre’Davious White was one of the very best in the NFL. Originally selected in the first round (No. 27 overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft, White was named to two Pro Bowls with the Buffalo Bills. He was also selected to the All-Pro team once as well. In […]
It feels like just yesterday that cornerback Tre’Davious White was one of the very best in the NFL. Originally selected in the first round (No. 27 overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft, White was named to two Pro Bowls with the Buffalo Bills. He was also selected to the All-Pro team once as well.
In total, White played seven seasons for the Bills. During that stretch, he managed to collect 311 total tackles, 18 interceptions, and 73 pass breakups. White also managed to total 12 tackles for loss, five forced fumbles, and five more fumble recoveries.
The 5-9, 196-pound cover man unfortunately experienced a rash of injuries during his last two seasons with Buffalo, including a torn Achilles during the 2023 seasons. That has caused White to become a bit of a journeyman the last two seasons, spending time with the Los Angeles Rams and Baltimore Ravens, but was largely ineffective.
White was originally a star for the LSU Tigers, having played a significant role from 2013-16. He was named an All-American during his time, and was a four-year starter. White managed to record 167 total tackles, six interceptions, 34 pass breakups, 12 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks.
With the injury history and declining play in recent seasons, it isn’t overly surprising that there seems to be almost no free agency market for White currently. At just 30 years old, it appears things may be nearing the end for White’s NFL career. It was great for a short while, but is one of the most recent examples for how injuries can derail great careers.
If White does get an opportunity, we should see some news coming out over the next couple of weeks. The longer he stays out there, the quicker his chances begin to dissipate. Time will tell if White ends up getting one more opportunity.
