Michigan has been struggling to win high school wide receiver recruits in the conventional way here recently. Sherrone Moore and his staff have locked in a couple tight ends and a lower pedigree wide receiver for their 2026 recruiting class, but Bryce Underwood needs more speed and firepower around him and everyone knows it.

Perhaps the best hope for Michigan to land an elite wide receiver late in the 2026 cycle is to flip one. That's at least going to be the plan this weekend as they're set to host an elite speedster currently committed to Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs.

Brady Marchese, Four Star WR Recruit

Earlier this spring it was thought that Brady Marchese may end up landing with the Michigan Wolverines, but ultimately he chose to commit to Georgia. The Top 250 overall recruit in the 2026 recruiting class began garnering significant national attention immediately following his explosive junior season, bringing in 30+ offers since then.

Despite being committed to Georgia currently, it's clear Marchese is still wanting to do his due diligence before making anything too official. He's visiting four other schools this summer officially, and with Michigan hosting him this weekend it looks like there's still at least a slight chance he flips to the Wolverines.

Why all the hype surrounding Marchese so quickly? And can Michigan actually pull off the flip?

Marchese ran above 21 miles per hour in multiple games verified by GPS (and other methods) last fall. When it became clear that his game-wrecking speed was legitimate every team started chasing after him. The explosion is evident just by watching him play, but it hits a bit different when teams realize he's already running faster than most active NFL wide receivers can.

This kind of game-changing speed would fill a huge need for Michigan if they can pull off the flip. But is it possible? Given the continued rising expectations surrounding Bryce Underwood and the lack thereof for Gunner Stockton (Georgia's quarterback) there's certainly a path here. It may not happen immediately this weekend or even this summer, but if Michigan proves they have a real Heisman candidate type with Underwood that might tip the scales.

Michigan was already pursuing him hard from January to March with Ron Bellamy (Wolverines WR coach) and company pushing hard after him. If they can sell Marchese on immediate starting opportunity (very likely there for Michigan in 2026), elite quarterback play, and fairly compensate him this could happen.

The team is still trying to add one of Calvin Russell (five star), Travis Johnson (four star), and Zion Robinson (four star) to offer some hope in recruiting at wide receiver too, but if they can't land any of them expect some rumors to emerge about Marchese as an extremely important flip candidate again here soon.
