With the struggles we have seen in terms of wide receiver recruiting for Notre Dame football recently, 2026 Red Oak (Texas) High School priority pass catcher Brayden Robinson has provided the program with some much-needed good news. It began with him announcing a return trip to South Bend on April 11th. That was big news.
Robinson’s good news didn’t end there. The Texas star announced on Monday that he was down to four schools in his recruitment, and Notre Dame managed to make the cut. They will be battling Ohio State, Miami, and Arizona going down the stretch.
As of today, Ohio State feels like the biggest competition. It’s hard to bet against the Buckeyes when it comes to wide receiver recruiting for obvious reasons. The Irish are in a good spot heading toward Robinson’s commitment date on July 20th, but they will have to battle.
Robinson is coming off of an incredible junior campaign for Red Oak, in which he led the team with 79 receptions for 1,408 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns. Robinson was also a weapon as a punt and kick returner as a junior.
Despite being a smaller wide receiver at just 5-8 and 160 pounds, Robinson has been pursued early and often by a long list of notable football programs due to his propensity to make big plays. The Texas product holds offers from the Fighting Irish, Ohio State, Texas, Oregon, LSU, Michigan, Tennessee, Auburn, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Nebraska, and Penn State among many impressive options.
247Sports has Robinson rated as a four-star and the No. 40 wide receiver in the 2026 recruiting class currently. Their platform also has him pegged as the No. 35 overall player in the state of Texas, an area that has a long history of developing top talent. Robinson is ranked similarly on the 247Sports Composite ranking, sitting as the No. 325 overall player on that ranking.
On3 is even higher on Robinson. On the On3 Industry ranking, he is currently pegged as the No. 293 overall player and No. 50 wide receiver in the class.
