The Notre Dame Fighting Irish received some very good news on Tuesday night when they rose up to No. 6 in the most recent College Football Playoff rankings. The formula for the Irish remains the same, win your last two games and you are in the field. Notre Dame will be hoping for some things to fall their way outside of their contest against the (19) Army Black Knights, but the attention remains on taking care of business Saturday night in Yankee Stadium.

On defense, Notre Dame is going to be facing one of the very best offenses in college football this season. With them being a triple option attack, Army is predicated on ball control, being physical up front, and making teams play at their pace. They are also a unit that is built off of explosiveness, led by star quarterback Bryson Daily. On the season, he has rushed for 1,062 yards and 21 touchdowns in just eight games.

As good as the Army offense is, their defense is even better. They currently rank second in college football this season, allowing just 10.3 points per game as a unit. Their run defense is especially strong, only allowing 82.6 yards per game on the ground, and three touchdowns on the season. There isn’t a true standout, but that group is just extremely well-coached on all three levels.

On paper, this should be a tremendous game but the numbers are skewed a bit. When you take a look at the Army schedule, they haven’t played a team nearly as talented as Notre Dame. The speed difference on offense and defense should be the major difference. Expect quarterback Riley Leonard to have one of his bigger games on the way to a massive victory.

Final Prediction: Notre Dame 38, Army 10
