Notre Dame football is set for a very important battle against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets this weekend. On paper, the defense has been pretty inconsistent for Georgia Tech, but there is certainly talent out there to work with. The Irish should have opportunity out there, but will need to be smart about who to attack.

Here are the prominent Georgia Tech defenders that Notre Dame needs to know. It promises to be an entertaining game on Saturday, and the Irish offense needs to continue getting better, and more consistent.

DT Zeek Biggers

The stat sheet doesn’t tell the full story for Biggers, who is a massive nose tackle at 6-6 and 325 pounds. He does a lot of the dirty work, which allows the Georgia Tech linebackers to flow free and make plays. Biggers is a pretty gifted athlete, and has no problem making an occasional play in pursuit. The interior offensive line for the Irish will need to be physical at the point of attack to move No. 88.

EDGE Romello Height

A former Auburn and USC transfer, Height has some flashy plays coming off of the edge. The box score production isn’t overly impressive yet, but that should come, but hopefully not this week. You consistently notice No. 9 rushing the passer, showcasing a nice blend of bend and explosiveness. The Notre Dame offensive tackles will need to be ready for his first step.

LB Kyle Efford

From a production perspective, Efford is the premier player on this Yellow Jacket defense. It’s hard to miss him in the middle of the defense with his collar, and tenacious energy. Through seven games, Efford has recorded 52 total tackles, four tackles for loss, and a sack. He is a downhill player who loves to make plays between the tackles. Getting Efford in space is the main priority, and making him uncomfortable.

S Clayton Powell-Lee

Seeing the numbers as a pass defense is very strange for Georgia Tech. There is a lot of talent in the secondary, but for whatever reason, they haven’t played overly well as a unit. Their most talented player on the back end is Powell-Lee, who has legitimate NFL interest despite being a true junior. Powell-Lee is a really smooth athlete that covers a lot of ground. Opposing offenses have done their best to avoid him so far.
