Notre Dame football ended the 2025 recruiting class with a bang a few weeks ago, grabbing a commitment from San Juan Capistrano (Calif.) JSerra Catholic linebacker Madden Faraimo on National Signing Day. The Fighting Irish were in a strong position with a couple talented linebackers down the stretch, and that also included IMG Academy star Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng, who opted for the Michigan Wolverines.

It was a weird situation down the stretch after Owusu-Boateng visited for the USC game, and things trended downward from there. By the time it was set for the IMG star to make his decision, most Notre Dame fans knew he wasn’t picking the Irish. It made it all the more disappointing when he selected “that team up North”, a hated rival of the program.

To add an additional layer to this odd situation, Owusu-Boateng is also the younger brother of former Irish great Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah. Of course Notre Dame fans remember “JOK” fondly as an All-American and Butkus Award winner, and dynamic playmaker. Owusu-Koramoah was eventually selected by the Cleveland Browns in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Following Notre Dame’s 23-10 victory over Georgia on Thursday, Owusu-Koramoah took to X and wasn’t shy about questioning his brother’s decision. He asked Nathaniel to “take a look” as the rest of the world was watching.

It’s too late now, and Owusu-Boateng has already made his decision. Ultimately time will tell how wise of a decision it was to select Michigan but for now, his brother is here to make him aware of the trajectory of the Notre Dame program. The slight jab was a sight to behold for Fighting Irish fans out there.
