Notre Dame football lands a massive commitment from a dynamic RB whose game resembles a former NFL Pro Bowler

Notre Dame football just received a commitment from another top 2027 running back recruit. Four-star Isaiah Rogers is not Irish and he brings a game eerily similar to a current NFL standout.

For the second time in less than a week, Notre Dame football has landed a commitment from a stellar 2027 running back recruit. The first was Waco (Texas) Midway standout Lathan Whisenton, and now head coach Marcus Freeman and the Fighting Irish were able to land Springfield (Mass.) Central star Isaiah Rogers on Monday. They were able to beat out Georgia, Penn State, and Indiana, among many others, to secure Rogers’ services.

When you pop on Rogers’ film, it is easy to see why he was a player that Notre Dame has valued so heavily. His combination of size, athleticism, and pass catching upside is tremendous. In fact, his skill set is pretty similar to former Oklahoma and Cincinnati Bengals Pro Bowl running back Joe Mixon.

After you watch Rogers cutback and explode up the field, check out some Mixon highlights. He has that same long striding style, which sort of lulls you to sleep with his deceptive speed. Rogers also has a frame where he is going to get up to about 220 pounds on the college level. That size, combined with his pass catching upside, makes him a very intriguing prospect for the next level.

With Whisenton and Rogers now in the 2027 class for Notre Dame, that solidifies another outstanding running back duo for Ja’Juan Seider and the Irish. The team has also been in a good spot with South Carolina native David Segarra III, but it is unlikely that the Irish will go after a third running back. With Whisenton’s speed and Rogers’ all-around potential, this promises to be a couple of great running back additions to an elite Notre Dame room.

Isaiah Rogers’ recruiting background

Rogers is considered to be a four-star player by each of the major recruiting platforms. On the 247 Sports Composite ranking, he currently ranks as the No. 237 overall player, the No. 15 running back, and the No. 2 player from the state of Massachusetts for the 2027 recruiting class. He has continued to rise up the recruiting rankings over the course of the offseason, and there’s no reason to believe that rise can’t continue. ESPN is the highest on Rogers, sitting as the No. 146 overall player in the country.

Like Rogers’ recruiting rankings, he has continued to see his offer list grow in recent months. Some of the top programs that have offered Rogers include the Fighting Irish, Georgia, Michigan, Florida, Penn State, Nebraska, Florida State, Indiana, Boston College, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Virginia Tech, Maryland, Mississippi State, Syracuse, and Rutgers, among others. Even more high-level programs continue to do their homework on Rogers.

As a junior in 2025, Rogers put together a tremendous season for Springfield Central. In 10 games, Rogers managed to rush for 1,172 yards and 18 touchdowns, including an impressive average of 8.1 yards per carry. The 5-11, 205-pound playmaker also hauled in 32 receptions for 373 yards and three more scores. Rogers’ combination of explosiveness, size, and versatility would be a tremendous addition to any major program of interest.
