Don Bosco tight end JT Geraci attends the NCAA football game between the Ohio State Buckeyes and Grambling Tigers at Ohio Stadium on Sept. 6, 2025.

When you think of the Notre Dame football program, there may not be a better developer of tight end talent in all of college football. The names the Fighting Irish have put into the NFL historically are noteworthy, such as Dave Casper, Mark Bavaro, Kyle Rudolph, Tyler Eifert, and Cole Kmet, among others. South Bend consistently attracts extremely talented players at the position.

For the 2027 recruiting class, there is a long list of impressive tight ends to keep a close eye on. That includes Ramsey (N.J.) Don Bosco Prep standout JT Geraci, who camped with the program this past offseason at Irish Invasion. Since then, both sides have been developing a strong relationship. Notre Dame has been putting itself in a very strong position.

Steve Wiltfong, who is the vice president of recruiting at Rivals, has put in an expert prediction for Geraci to land with the Fighting Irish. The New Jersey native had a lot of great things to say to Wiltfong about his interest in Notre Dame in a recent interview.

“This is a special one for me,” Geraci said about receiving the offer. “Notre Dame has always been high on my list. It’s one of the few programs I visited in the spring and only one of two places I camped at for the Irish Invasion.”

We will see if Notre Dame can close the deal sometime soon with Geraci, but the vibes are certainly in a great spot right now. It would be an interesting landing, especially with so many talented tight ends on the board right now.

JT Geraci’s unusual recruiting profile

If you are a big believer in recruiting rankings, then you aren’t going to be much of a fan of Geraci. He is currently rated as a three-star player by every major recruiting platform. On the 247 Sports Composite ranking, Geraci currently sits as the No. 517 overall player, the No. 27 tight end, and the No. 14 player of the state of New Jersey for the 2027 recruiting class.

While his rankings aren’t overly impressive, the offer just for Geraci certainly is. That group has only expanded during his junior season so far. Some of his top offers include the Fighting Irish, Ohio State, Alabama, Texas, Tennessee, Florida, Texas A&M, Auburn, Missouri, Louisville, Kentucky, Colorado, Illinois, Pittsburgh, Boston College, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, and Duke, among several others.

Geraci is used mostly as a blocker for Don Bosco, and he has massive upside in that department. The 6-5, 230-pound tight end does also have big flashes as a pass receiver as well. In four games, he has hauled in six receptions for 72 yards. That production promises to balloon as they get into the important part of their schedule.
