Notre Dame football has been on an impressive roll on the recruiting trail over the last several weeks. Head coach Marcus Freeman and the Fighting Irish staff have parlayed their on-field success into attracting some more outstanding talent from the high school ranks. One position that still has some questions to answer is wide receiver for the 2026 recruiting class.
One extremely important target in the class for Notre Dame is 2026 Red Oak (Texas) High School priority pass catcher Brayden Robinson. The Texas standout released a top schools list a few weeks ago, which included the Fighting Irish, Ohio State, Miami, and Arizona. Anytime the Buckeyes are included in a list for a talented wide receiver, it is understandable to get very nervous.
In this case, Ohio State is no longer involved. After they grabbed a commitment from California star Kayden Dixon-Wyatt recently, the Buckeye wide receiver class is now complete. It isn't overly surprising, but they are no longer in contention for Robinson because of it.
As things stand, Miami is viewed as the major competitor for Robinson with Arizona running third. The Red Oak superstar is someone that the Irish staff wants in a big way, but so do the Hurricanes. This will be a battle until the very end.
Robinson is coming off of an outstanding junior season for Red Oak, in which he led the team with 79 receptions for 1,408 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns. Robinson was also a dynamic playmaker as a punt and kick returner as a junior.
Despite being a smaller wide receiver at just 5-8 and 165 pounds, Robinson has been pursued early and often by a long list of fantastic football programs due to his talents to make big plays. The Texas product holds offers from the Fighting Irish, Ohio State, Texas, Oregon, LSU, Michigan, Tennessee, Auburn, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Nebraska, and Penn State among many impressive options.
247Sports has Robinson rated as a four-star and the No. 40 wide receiver in the 2026 recruiting class currently. Their platform also has him pegged as the No. 35 overall player in the state of Texas, an area that has a long history of developing top talent and one that Notre Dame is tapping into more regularly under this staff. Robinson is ranked similarly on the 247Sports Composite ranking, sitting as the No. 333 overall player on that ranking.
On3 also ranks Robinson very similarly. On the On3 Industry ranking, he is currently pegged as the No. 337 overall player and No. 52 wide receiver in the class.
