Notre Dame football made an interesting offer on Tuesday when they extended one to 2026 Avon (Conn.) Old Farms offensive tackle Charlie Thom. An underrated prospect in the 2026 class, Thom has been receiving a lot more attention this offseason.
He has earned more and more attention from some impressive offers recently. That includes the Fighting Irish, Penn State, Nebraska, Michigan State, Virginia Tech, Syracuse, Boston College, Stanford, and Wake Forest among several others. It appears that Notre Dame will be a huge player in this recruitment, if they choose to push.
While the 6-6, 275-pound offensive tackle is an intriguing prospect, this is more than likely a reaction to where things are with 2026 Glenside (Pa.) La Salle College offensive tackle Grayson McKeogh. The Pennsylvania native took an official visit to South Bend this past weekend, and is now set to make his college decision on July 1st. That timing does feel optimistic for Joe Rudolph and the Fighting Irish, but that isn’t the most recent feedback.
As of today, Penn State is viewed as the front runner for McKeogh. He is also going to be taking another official visit to Texas this weekend, but the Longhorns are viewed as running third. This is a Notre Dame-Penn State battle, but the latter appears to have the upper hand.
McKeogh now ranks as a four-star recruit on the 247Sports Composite ranking. That rating has him pegged as the No. 262 overall player, No. 20 offensive tackle, and No. 7 player in the state of Pennsylvania in the 2026 recruiting class.
McKeogh’s offer list has also continued to expand, and the demand has risen. Some of the top programs who have offered McKeogh includes the Fighting Irish, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Penn State, Missouri, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Indiana, Boston College, Syracuse, Northwestern, West Virginia, Rutgers, Duke, Wake Forest, USF, and Liberty.
There is no question that Notre Dame would love to land McKeogh, and they will continue to push right up until his commitment day. Thom feels like another talented option getting on the board, and I expect them to pivot that way, and soon.
