Head coach Marcus Freeman and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish have all their attention set on their matchup with the Miami Hurricanes on August 31st. While prospective recruits will have their attention on the game as well, several 2027 targets are also keeping close tabs on the first home game against Texas A&M on September 13th.

That promises to be a very important recruiting weekend for Notre Dame, offering a chance to make a statement against an SEC program in Notre Dame Stadium. There is already a long list of impressive recruits who are set to visit South Bend that weekend. It begins with an incredibly important local crop of 2027 recruits.

The defensive line will especially be represented by local players. Indianapolis (Ind.) Franklin Central pass rusher Jayce Brewer is a toolsy defensive end with some massive upside. Things are in a good spot early on with Brewer, and the same is true with Chicago (Ill.) Brother Rice defensive tackle Brayden Parks. Those are two major priorities early on.

Speaking of talented defensive linemen, the Fighting Irish will also be welcoming Hattiesburg (Miss.) Oak Grove defensive tackle Deven Robertson back to campus that weekend. The 6-3, 304-pound defender has already been predicted to land with Notre Dame when a decision is ultimately made. With a huge visit, it’s possible that they nail this recruitment down.

Heading back to the local conversation, Notre Dame will also be hosting a pair of extremely talented pass catchers. Those two are Chicago (Ill.) Mount Carmel standout Quentin Burrell and Indianapolis (Ind.) Lawrence North five-star Monshun Sales. Both players are rated inside the top 100 players nationally by multiple platforms so far.

Things are in a better place with Burrell early on, and the Fighting Irish look like the favorite right now. It appears like Sales will be a much tougher pull, but impressing him in person would go a long way. Time will tell if they can begin to move the needle there.

Regardless, that weekend against the Aggies is going to be massive for the Irish. There are so many priorities expected back on campus. It will be a great way to get an early feel for just how good the 2027 group can be.
