Things are moving quickly with 2026 Forney (Texas) High School running Javian Osborne, who is back on campus this weekend for the Blue-Gold Game. A priority recruit for Notre Dame in the 2026 class, Osborne recently announced a final two of the Fighting Irish and Michigan. There have been nothing but positive signs in this recruitment recently.
Notre Dame received even more good news on Friday when it was announced that Osborne will be making his commitment on May 3rd. The Texas star will be choosing between the Irish and the Wolverines. It’s hard not to feel really good about the team’s chances with the recent momentum.
Osborne is currently considered a four-star player on every major recruiting platform. He is currently ranked as the No. 83 overall player, No. 6 running back, and No. 11 player in Texas in the 2026 recruiting class according to 247Sports Composite ranking. Both the 247Sports Composite and Rivals rankings also have Osborne pegged as a top-100 player as well for the class. His high ranking in the state of Texas is extremely notable with the team’s increased presence in recent recruiting classes.
Outside of Osborne’s final two, he was also pursued by several prominent programs. Some of his best offers include Texas, Georgia, Ohio State, Alabama, Oregon, Oklahoma, Tennessee, USC, Penn State, Florida, Miami, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M, and Florida State among many, many others.
As a junior this past season, Osborne put together a tremendous performance for an extremely talented Forney. team. In nine games that he played, Osborne rushed for 1,085 yards and 21 touchdowns while also averaging seven yards per carry. The 5-9, 195-pound runner also hauled in nine receptions for 168 yards and three more scores as a receiver.
If Notre Dame is able to close on Osborne in a few weeks, it would be a monumental victory for Ja’Juan Seider and the Irish staff. Before Coach Seider came over from Penn State, Osborne had interest in Notre Dame but they were not considered the leader. This recruitment has done a complete 180 in recent weeks, and Seider deserves a lot of the credit.
