Predicting the next five commitments for Notre Dame following five-star athlete Joey O’Brien picking the Fighting Irish

Notre Dame football and head coach Marcus Freeman have had quite the Friday on the recruiting trait. Elite 2026 Towson (Md.) Loyola Blakefield cornerback Khari Adams got things kicked off in the afternoon, opting for the Fighting Irish over Oregon and Penn State. That was followed up by five-star safety Joey O’Brien, arguably the best overall player now in the 2026 recruiting class.
The best part of today is that Notre Dame is far from over. They have been riding a lot of recruiting momentum recently, and that isn’t stopping anytime soon. Here is my prediction for the next five commitments in the 2026 recruiting class for the Fighting Irish.
It is a very impressive potential group.
TE Preston Fryzel – Toledo (Ohio) Central Catholic
Fryzel is one of the more underrated tight ends in the 2026 recruiting class. He is only 6-4 and 220 pounds right now, but he has the frame to continue adding good weight. The athletic upside is really impressive, and has natural playmaking upside. I expect Fryzel to select the Fighting Irish over Miami and Iowa on Monday.
WR Devin Fitzgerald – Phoenix (Az.) Brophy Prep
We know that Notre Dame loves NFL bloodlines, and the same is true of the son of Larry Fitzgerald. His son has a big frame and a massive catch radius. The program has been pushing for him big time the last few weeks, and I expect Fitzgerald to eventually find his way into the 2026 class.
S Nick Reddish – Charlotte (N.C.) Independence
With Reddish missing most of his junior season, he has gone very underrated. The 5-11, 185-pound safety is a very willing run defender with outstanding physicality. Reddish has the ability to potentially play on the roof, in the box, or in the slot as well.
TE Evan Jacobson – Waukee (Iowa) High School
If Notre Dame does land Fryzel, Jacobson is the bigger bodied tight end that the Irish still want. At 6-7 and 225 pounds, his game is pretty similar to former Fighting Irish star Kyle Rudolph. Jacobson’s combination of size, catch radius, and straight line speed is impressive.
OT Charlie Thom – Avon (Conn.) Old Farms
Things are moving quickly between Thom and Notre Dame, currently on his official visit in South Bend. The 6-6, 275-pound athlete is an extremely impressive project who has just been a high school tight end so far. It appears that the Irish want to potentially take six offensive lineman in the class, and Thom is the final target.
