Now that the 2026 Notre Dame recruiting class is nearly solidified, it’s time to start to turn our attention to the 2027 group. The Fighting Irish currently hold two commitments in the class from linebacker Ellis McGaskin and long snapper Sean Kraft. With the attention about to be fully turned to the class, things are going to begin escalating quickly.
For a general overview of the class, and where Notre Dame currently stands, let’s talk about the 2027 class. There is no better place to start than at quarterback. It’s a small board right now with just two offers out there, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it expanded at some point.
Here are the early names to know.
Peyton Houston – Shreveport (La.) Evangel Christian Academy
There are a lot of people who have, and will continue to, obsess over the lack of size for Houston. At 5-11 and 196 pounds, he is a very small quarterback. When you watch his film, however, it just doesn’t matter. Houston has an outstanding arm, generating easy velocity to all levels of the field. The Louisiana native is also really good outside of structure. He has the ability to extend as a passer, and a hurt a defense as a runner as well.
As of today, Notre Dame is a bit down the list for Houston. He has said that he wants to commit potentially sometime during the season, so there is time. The Fighting Irish will have to make up a ton of ground, and quickly, if they want a legitimate chance in the end. Houston does feel like the type of quarterback that offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock would love to work with.
Teddy Jarrard – Kennesaw (Ga.) North Cobb
One of the biggest risers in the 2027 recruiting class, and especially at quarterback, Jarrard keeps grabbing everyone’s attention this offseason. It feels like every time you look, Jarrard is winning another event or impressing at a camp. The 6-3, 190-pound passer brings a really nice frame, and plenty of arm talent to the table. Jarrard is also a smooth athlete that excels throwing on the run.
Between Houston and Jarrard, I believe the latter is much more likely for Notre Dame right now. They will need to battle the likes of Georgia and Ohio State, but I do think the Fighting Irish will have a good chance in the end. If Jarrard keeps progressing the way he has, he has a chance to be a top 100 plahr
