The Notre Dame offense came alive against Purdue, exploding during a 66-7 blowout victory. The team accounted for 578 total yards, including 362 on the ground. It was a performance that was needed greatly after the fiasco last weekend.

As you can imagine, it’s hard to pick just a couple studs from this week, and it’s even harder to pick a dud. Still, here are some players who really stood out, both positively and negatively. It was a fun showing on Saturday in West Lafayette.

STUDS

RB Jeremiyah Love

The more Love plays, the more excited that Notre Dame fans become. He finished with 109 yards and a touchdown on just 10 carries. The big plays were plentiful, and there were several plays where Love looked like the fastest player on the field. There’s a chance he could be one of the biggest playmakers in college football if he keeps developing this quickly. Love is a superstar in the making, and has the look of a future first round pick.

RB Jadarian Price

If not for the big day for Love, we would be talking about Price a lot more, rushing for 86 yards and a touchdown on just eight carries. He isn’t quite as quick as Love but his straight line speed is right on par. When Price gets the chance to get vertical, he’s a headache for opposing defenses. We saw that on his long touchdown run before the end of the first half, which may have been the most impressive play of the day.

OT Aamil Wagner

You could have thrown the entire offensive line into this conversation, but I thought Wagner was the best player up front on Saturday. He’s extremely long and athletic, but we have always known that. Wagner is now starting to become more and more consistent. You didn’t notice him as much on Saturday, which is a good thing. When consistency regularly meets his overall talent, the Irish have a chance to have an absolute stud at right tackle.

DUDS

Passing attack

It was a day that didn’t have a ton of negatives to it, but the one glaring question that still remains is centered around the passing attack. Quarterback Riley Leonard was a Tom better than last week but too often drops his eyes once he breaks the picket. The wide receivers haven’t played overly well, but Leonard isn’t doing them many favors. The whole operation needs to get way more consistent.
