The 12-team College Football Playoffs are here, and it started with a bang. Notre Dame, the No. 7 seed, hosted No. 10 Indiana for the battle of the Hoosier State, with the Fighting Irish running away with the game. Literally.

It got started early. After both quarterbacks traded a pair of interceptions, Notre Dame took possession at their own two yard line. They needed exactly one play to go 98 yards, courtesy of Jeremiyah Love.

Love took the tote for a 98 yard touchdown, logging the first touchdown in the 12-team CFP format. It was also the longest touchdown run in College Football Playoffs history.

Indiana entered the playoffs boasting an impressive 11-1 record, with their only loss on the season coming at the hands of Ohio State. Their defense was a huge reason why — they allowed only 15.7 points per game, and they held opponents to 2.6 yards per carry, which was the second-fewest in college football, and 76.2 rushing yards per game, the lowest in the country.

Love busting a 98-yard house call on that run defense is astounding. Notre Dame finished the game with 117 rushing yards more than Indiana had averaged this season.

The defense and the ground game of Notre Dame is how they'll look to hang in their matchups going forward, with Love and quarterback Riley Leonard proving a potent ground game that defenses struggle to contain. For beating Indiana, Notre Dame is now scheduled to square off with Georgia in Athens in the Allstate Sugar Bowl on New Year's Day, and Love will look to continue to be a focal point of their playoffs run.
