Notre Dame recruiting target predicted to land with another Midwest power that is quickly becoming a thorn in the program’s side
Former top Notre Dame cornerback target is trending toward another Midwest power.
Notre Dame football has done a tremendous job recruiting cornerbacks and safeties over the last few years. Head coach Marcus Freeman and the Fighting Irish have made it a habit of attracting a ton of big-time players, including the likes of Benjamin Morrison, Leonard Moore, Adon Shuler, Tae Johnson, and Christian Gray. That impact under Mike Mickens doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.
In the 2027 recruiting class, Notre Dame has once again gotten off to a really fast start. With commitments from talented cornerbacks Xavier Hasan and Ace Alston, as well as safety Khalil Terry. With that early 2027 run, the Irish staff has been able to become very selective as we move forward. One player that Notre Dame has had a high opinion of is Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco cornerback Jailen Hill, a player that the program has appeared to be in a great spot with for a long time.
While Notre Dame has been the assumed leader for some time, the Indiana Hoosiers appear to have now taken the lead. Rivals’ national recruiting analyst has logged an expert prediction for head coach Curt Cignetti and the Hoosiers to land Hill. It sounds like it may only be a matter of time.
While Hill would be a loss for Notre Dame, it isn’t a devastating blow. There are still a ton of talented defensive backs on the board. The Irish still have a very strong chance to end up landing another elite secondary haul.
Jailen Hill’s recruiting background
Hill is considered a consensus four-star player by all major recruiting platforms. On the 247 Sports Composite ranking, Hill sits as the No. 150 overall player, the No. 15 cornerback, and the No. 15 player from the state of California in the 2027 recruiting class. Notre Dame wants to continue tapping into the talent coming out of the Trinity League, and Hill is one they hoped would be part of that quest.
On top of his impressive recruiting rankings, the California native also boasts an outstanding offer list. Some of Hill’s top offers include the Fighting Irish, Georgia, Alabama, Michigan, Texas, Oregon, Florida, Texas A&M, USC, Miami, Indiana, Florida State, Nebraska, Auburn, Arizona State, Washington, Michigan State, Arizona, Maryland, Purdue, and UCLA, among others.
The 6-2, 175-pound cover cornerback was tremendous for St. John Bosco as a junior. In 10 games, Hill recorded 11 total tackles, six interceptions, and three pass breakups. Hill played previously for Inglewood High School but made a seamless transition at one of the best high school programs in the country this season.
