For the first time ever, Notre Dame football is set to host a home playoff game on Friday, December 20th against the Indiana Hoosiers. Head coach Marcus Freeman has promised a lot of firsts for the Irish under his tenure, and this is just the latest event. The electricity around the program is at an all-time high.

In the latest edition of Wake Up the Echoes, both Coach Freeman and general manager Chad Bowden joined the show to talk about the upcoming playoff game. As you might have guessed, both of them are each very excited. Having that type of home field advantage is potentially huge for the program.

In fact, Coach Freeman spoke specifically about making that advantage as big as possible. He had a slight plea to the fans to show up, and help to create a bit of a raucous environment.

“When you talk about the first home playoff game in Notre Dame Stadium, in the environment, and how special that is going to be,” Coach Freeman. “We have to utilize playing at home as an advantage to us… We need our crowd to impact this game.”

It was a call to action for Notre Dame fans, and the odds are pretty good those supporters will come out and pull through. It isn’t every year you get to host a playoff game, and this fanbase understands the magnitude of this opportunity. This is a "win or go home" type of situation, and this Irish squad could use every advantage they can muster.
