The Ohio State men’s basketball team moved to 5-1 on the season after another big offensive performance for the Buckeyes. In Columbus, Ohio State rolled to a 102-69 win over Green Bay.

Ohio State crossed the 100-point mark for the second straight game and the Buckeyes have scored over 80 points five out of six times.

Doug Gottlieb is in his first season as the head coach at Green Bay and the sports talk radio host gave a big endorsement of Buckeyes head coach Jake Diebler after the game.

"If anybody has questions, watch the tape and ask people that know basketball,” Gottlieb told reporters.

Diebler won the head coaching job after an impressive tenure as the interim head coach last season after the Buckeyes let Chris Holtmann go. Ohio State has been strong so far this season with their best win coming over Texas.

Bruce Thornton led the way with 25 points on 5-of-7 shooting from three-point range. Meechie Johnson added five triples as well and had a season-high 17 points. Freshman John Mobley continued his hot start with 14 points. Sean Stewart added 11 points and eight rebounds and Devin Royal had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Evan Mahaffey’s defense was notable with two blocks and a steal. Mahaffey added 10 points, three rebounds, and four assists. A nice all-around performance for a key player in the rotation.

Ohio State forced 17 turnovers and shot 56 percent from the field. The Buckeyes nailed 14 three-pointers in all.

There were questions about Diebler’s readiness for the job at Ohio State due to his experience at the age of 38. Diebler has the Buckeyes playing with energy and has a team with multiple let transfers really playing well on the court.

Ohio State will have a matchup with Pittsburgh out of the ACC, who is 6-1 on the season. The Buckeyes could potentially pick up a quality win against the Panthers.
