Ohio State finished with another top-five recruiting class for the class of 2025 and the majority of that class is already on campus in Columbus.

The Buckeyes have turned their attention to building the 2026 class, where they have just four commitments to this point. No. 1 wide receiver Chris Henry Jr. is Ohio State’s top-ranked commitment and that likely will not change.

Ohio State came a step closer over the weekend to landing a top offensive target. Four-star 2026 tight end Mack Sutter announced his top-five list and the Buckeyes made the cut. Ohio State was joined by Illinois, Penn State, Alabama, and Ole Miss.

Sutter is from Dunlap, Illinois, so the Illini being in the mix makes sense since they are the home state school. The 6-foot-5, 225-pound tight end has 43 offers and is wanted by just about every major college football program. The athletic tight end has played quarterback in high school and also plays basketball. According to 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Sutter is the No. 6 tight end and No. 106 player in the nation.

If the Buckeyes want to gain the commitment of Sutter, they are going to have to beat out Penn State, who can offer Tyler Warren’s 2024 season as a great example of what they can do with a tight end. Sutter doesn’t have a clear favorite, but the Nittany Lions are firmly in the mix.

Ohio State received a commitment from top transfer tight end Max Klare from Purdue and his 2025 season could end up being something recruits can note. Cade Stover had the last big season for a tight end at Ohio State with 576 yards and five touchdowns in 2023.

Ohio State brought in Brody Lennon at the position for the class of 2025 and does not yet have a commitment at tight end for 2026. Stutter would be a terrific addition to the Buckeyes in the class and they are in the mix to make that happen.
