Ohio State WR Jeremiah Smith gives own injury update that is a Christmas gift for the Buckeyes ahead of the Cotton Bowl vs. Miami
Great news for the Buckeyes heading into their College Football Playoff matchup against the Miami Hurricanes.
The Ohio State Buckeyes had their two-star wide receivers back on the field against the Indiana Hoosiers, but there’s no doubt that they weren’t 100 percent.
Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate having over a couple of weeks off between the Indiana game and Ohio State’s Dec. 31 matchup against the Miami Hurricanes is just what the Buckeyes needed. Smith especially, who has been dealing with a quad injury, said he is fully healthy going into the game against Miami.
Jeremiah Smith’s health update is good news for the Buckeyes ahead of the Cotton Bowl
“Going into The Game, no I was not 100 percent,” Smith said recently. “I’m going to be honest with you, I was still banged up a little bit. But right now, I’m back healthy, fully healthy, so I should be good to go.
“Just a little adversity. It’s something I never really had to deal with [before]. Never been hurt. But that was something serious I had to deal with. After [not playing] that Rutgers week, I was feeling down. I didn’t know if I was going to be able to play. I was debating if I was going to play or not because it was really bad. But I had to do everything for the team. I wanted to be out there and I did everything I could, and we got the win.”
Smith returned against Michigan and was impactful with a touchdown and 40 yards receiving on three catches after dealing with a quad injury. The Florida native had 144 yards against Indiana when he was a bit healthier, and now he’s full go ahead of playing his hometown team with the Hurricanes. The star sophomore has 1,086 receiving yards in 12 games played this season. That’s including the one game missed and just a quarter played in another.
Ohio State will need its stars to be at their best against Miami and beyond if it can advance. The offense scored just 10 points against Indiana and that result again will bounce them out of the playoffs and end their season. Good news for the Buckeyes, Smith is ready to go.
