A lot has happened for the Ohio State Bucjdhsss since their season ended with a 17-15 record and missed the NCAA Tournament for a third straight season.

Ohio State has lost four transfers so far, but three have been added. Centers Aaron Bradshaw and Austin Parks, G Meechie Johnson Jr., and F Evan Mahaffey all opted to leave the program. The Buckeyes have brought in G Gabe Cupps, C Christoph Tilly, and F Brandon Noel.

Just a day before the portal closes, Ohio State has lost what appears to be its final transfer out.

Sean Stewart opts to transfer from Ohio State after spending one season with the Buckeyes from Duke

According to multiple reports, Ohio State F Sean Stewart opted to hit the transfer portal just before the deadline on Tuesday evening. Stewart started 30 games for the Buckeyes after transferring over from the Duke Blue Devils.

Stewart was a five-star recruit coming out of high school in the class of 2023 and averaged 5.7 points and 5.8 rebounds per game for Ohio State in 30 games in 2024 as a sophomore. Stewart offered rebounding and defensive ability while in the court but his offensive game was never able to come together.

With Stewart opting to leave, that puts a cap on a very bad first transfer portal class for Jake Diebler. Micah Parrish had the best impact as a transfer and it’s fair to say the rest of the bunch didn’t work out. Ques Grover was fine in his limited role as a backup point guard.

Ohio State could use another couple of transfers to round out their roster for next season. Stewart’s departure wasn’t unexpected but it took up until the final moments for it to happen.
