Former Ohio State football player just committed to a Big Ten school from the transfer portal, and the Buckeyes will see him in 2026
Ohio State will see the former Buckeye in 2026 who just committed to another Big Ten school.
A wild two weeks of the transfer portal are behind us and college football rosters are out together for the most part. The Ohio State Buckeyes lost north of 30 players while bringing in 16 players from the transfer portal.
Ohio State lost mostly back-end depth on the roster, and it was easily the most they’ve seen depart for the portal. The majority of former Buckeyes have found homes — and another one just landed with a Big Ten team that Ohio State will see in 2026.
Former Buckeye commits to play for the Iowa Hawkeyes
Ex-Ohio State S Cody Haddad entered the transfer portal on Jan. 16 and took a visit to the Tennessee Volunteers on Jan. 17. But it’s the Iowa Hawkeyes where Haddad will be transferring to after one season at Ohio State.
Haddad was a three-star recruit out of St. Ignatius High School in the Cleveland area in the class of 2025. Haddad redshirted in his freshman season at Ohio State, so he’ll have four years of eligibility left at the college level.
Ohio State will look a lot different at safety next year outside of Haddad’s departure. With Caleb Downs off to the NFL, the Buckeyes brought in Duke transfer Terry Moore to fill in there. Former Florida State S Earl Little Jr. will likely man the nickel and join current Buckeye Jaylen McClain in three safety sets.
Along with Haddad, former Buckeyes Faheem Delane, Malik Hartford, and Keenan Nelson Jr. left from the safety room. Leroy Roker will be Ohio State’s top depth piece at safety in 2026 with freshman Blaine Bradford likely filling out the two-deep.
The 6-foot-1 Haddad now has a shot to make a name for himself at Iowa. Ohio State will travel to Iowa in 2026 on a date that isn’t announced yet.
