The college basketball world is seeing more transfers than it ever has. A team like the Ohio State Buckeyes continues to lose players from their roster that went 17-15 and missed their third straight NCAA Tournament.
Center Austin Parks was the first player to enter the portal and he was followed by forward Evan Mahaffey. Guard Meechie Johnson Jr. also decided to enter the portal. None of these moves were a real surprise for the Buckeyes.
Ohio State has landed one player in the portal and that is former Indiana G Gabe Cupps. Now, the Buckeyes will need to get to work following their fourth departure.
Former Kentucky C Aaron Bradshaw to leave Columbus after one season with the Ohio State Buckeyes
According to 247 Sports, Buckeyes C Aaron Bradshaw will be entering the portal and playing for his third team in three seasons next year. Bradshaw is a former five-star recruit to the Kentucky Wildcats but transferred out following the 2023-2024 season. As a freshman at Kentucky, Bradshaw averaged 4.9 points and 3.3 rebounds per game.
In his one season in Columbus, Bradshaw played in 22 games with five starts for the Buckeyes. Bradshaw averaged 6 points and 2.7 rebounds per game for the Buckeyes in a backup center role for the most part. The hope was that the former five-star McDonald’s All-American would be able to find form and be a key contributor for the Buckeyes. That never happened.
Ohio State is just about depleted on the interior now with Ivan Njegovan being the lone scholarship player on the roster at center. Njegovan averaged 1.6 points and 1.5 rebounds per game in 21 appearances.
Another transfer for the Buckeyes that doesn’t come as a surprise, but this now puts more pressure on Diebler and the Buckeyes to be aggressive in the portal and get this thing right.
Ohio State transfer Meechie Johnson Jr.’s landing spot in the portal may show his heart was never in Columbus
The transfer portal is on fire at the moment in college basketball. It feels like there are notable entrances every single day. For the Ohio State Buckeyes, one of their most well-known players is headed elsewhere. His destination is now known, too. Meechie Johnson Jr. transfers back to South Carolina According to On3, Ohio State […]
