The Oklahoma Sooners are trying to do everything they can to keep a great defense intact. A large part of that is strong recruiting in the 2026 class, the class that will be here not this upcoming season but the one after. They were able to keep strong recruiting for the 2025 class, finishing with the No. 1 OT in the country and a top 12-ish class across three major recruiting sites.

One player the Sooners are chasing in the 2026 class, to try and keep it elite, is Nick Abrams, one of the best linebackers in the country for 2026. And, he has a cool connection to the school that you don't hear too often

Sooners are recruiting LB Nick Abrams

Nick Abrams II is a stud high school football player currently attending McDonogh School in Owings Mills, Maryland. He plays as a linebacker and has garnered significant attention in the recruiting scene for the class of 2026. Abrams stands at 6-foot-2 and weighs around 210 pounds, which gives him a combination of size, speed, and agility that makes him a big presence on the field. In his junior year, he finished with 77 total tackles, nine tackles for loss, four sacks, and one interception.

The buzz around Abrams is evident in the recruitment offers he has received from prestigious college football programs. Notably, Alabama, Syracuse, Penn State, and Oklahoma have all extended scholarship offers to him.

And, the best thing about Abrams is that it runs in the family, OUDNA, that is. He's got family that played at Oklahoma.

"I actually had a cousin that used to play for Oklahoma; his name was Charles Tapper," Nick Abrams told Rivals. "So it’s pretty cool that I was watching him playing on TV in Oklahoma, and now I have an offer from them."

So, the Sooners have that going for them in their recruitment.
