The Oklahoma Sooners are now a defensive school, when they used to be an offensive school for so long under Lincoln Riley and so many other head coaches. Under Brent Venables, they have had much better defenses, especially last season.
Last year, they had maybe the best defense in the SEC. You could certainly argue that case, and if not, they were definitely top-three. And with a bottom-of-the-league offense, the Sooners were somehow good enough to win six games with the hardest schedule in the country. That's because of the defense.
Now, they are looking to add on to it for the future, and only improving their 2026 recruiting class big-time. In fact, that player, who's one of the best in the country, seems to want Oklahoma.
Oklahoma Sooners could land top DL in 2026
Deuce Geralds is a top high school football player from Collins Hill High School in Suwanee, Georgia, in the class of 2026. He’s a 6-foot-2, 265-275-pound defensive lineman who had an outstanding junior year in 2024, recording 114 tackles, 30 tackles for loss, and 13 sacks. His efforts helped Collins Hill go 11-2 and make a strong playoff run in Georgia’s Class 6A.
Geralds comes from a football family—his dad, Daverin Sr., was a starting center for Ole Miss and played in their 2010 Cotton Bowl win. Deuce has stayed loyal to Collins Hill, where he started as a freshman on the 2021 state championship team and later broke the school’s all-time sack record.
He’s a four-star recruit, ranked among the top five defensive linemen and top 100 players in his class. With over 38 college offers from schools like Alabama, Ohio State, LSU, and Ole Miss, he’s narrowed it down to a top 10 that includes Clemson and Oregon.
Now, he seems to be the guy that Oklahoma wants the most. He's widely considered to be the best DL in the country, and has his eyes set on OU, a school that has been producing elite talent for years now. As he heads into his senior year in 2025, Geralds is a major name in recruiting and a potential future NFL talent.
2026 4-star running back committed to Oklahoma Sooners just got a very enticing offer from SEC foe
That would be a crazy flip.
