The Oklahoma Sooners had a terrible offensive line in 2024. Well, there were a lot of things bad on that side of the ball in 2024 that made the Sooners offensive line even worse than what it already was, but, it was bad nonetheless. The injuries, bad scheme, bad depth, and many other things made everything so much worse.

Now the Sooners are on a quest to fix their offense while still maintaining that elite defense they had a season ago, the one that was perfect for the SEC. They went and hired Ben Arbuckle, one of the best young minds in college football, as their offensive coordinator. And they brought in his quarterback, John Mateer, the best quarterback available in this past transfer portal.

But as far as the future is concerned for the offense, they have some work to do with their recruiting. This 2026 class needs to be very good on that side of the ball, especially on the offensive line. Recently, they landed in the top 10 of a 2026 recruit that could really help change the offensive line in the future.

Sooners land in the top 10 of Canon Pickett

Canon Pickett is a standout offensive tackle from Tampa Bay Tech High School in Tampa, Florida. At 6'5" and 310 pounds, he's a four-star recruit in the 2026 class, known for his size, strength, and agility. His skills on the field have earned him offers from top college football programs like Miami, Alabama, Georgia, Florida State, and Clemson.

His recruitment is closely watched due to his potential and family ties to the University of Miami, where his brother plays and his cousin is committed to LSU. Despite this, Pickett has shown interest in several schools, visiting Michigan, LSU, and Florida, indicating he's keeping his options open.

On Monday he announced his top ten schools, emphasizing his ongoing recruitment, and Oklahoma was on the list, along with Alabama and Georgia.

Pickett excels at protecting the quarterback and aiding in the run game, making him a valuable asset for any college team, especially one like Oklahoma that needs to protect Mateer as much as possible.
