The Oklahoma Sooners are on a recruiting roll. They just landed the No. 3 running back in the 2028 class and could soon add Jaylen Scott and Montre Jackson.

However, that momentum shows no signs of slowing. This is peak recruiting season, and head coach Brent Venables has traveled nationwide over the last week or two, recruiting in person and visiting players the Sooners have made a priority. One such player is 2027 four-star defensive end/tight end Zane Rowe, and Venables made a memorable entrance to the visit.

Rowe posted a video of Venables arriving at the visit. The Sooners’ head coach pulled up in a helicopter. Rowe greeted him, looking awestruck. As a high school kid, that’s got to be a good feeling—a college head coach taking a helicopter just to come see you. Maybe that’s normal in recruiting, but how often do we get to see that first interaction straight off the helicopter?

Sooners land in the top-five of a few more recruits, and have projections to land more players

As stated earlier, the Sooners are pushing hard for Scott. They’re in his top five with the Tennessee Volunteers, Florida State Seminoles, Georgia Bulldogs, and Miami Hurricanes. OU has made one of the strongest impressions on the four-star safety. He’s a player the 2027 class could really use. They have yet to land a safety, but already have two cornerbacks.

Jackson is the other player the Sooners could land. They are in his top eight. OU already has two cornerbacks committed, along with predictions of landing Gabriel Osborne Jr. and JuJu Johnson. Jackson may choose to go somewhere else. The Texas Longhorns, Volunteers, Ole Miss Rebels, and Texas A&M Aggies are the teams OU is competing against for Jackson.

Overall, the Sooners remain hot on the recruiting trail, maintaining their intense push for top prospects.
