The Oklahoma Sooners might have just scored a monumental win for the future of their football team.

All eyes have been on the recruitment of elite quarterback prospect Bowe Bentley. The Texas native narrowed his top two to LSU and Oklahoma recently, and visited both over the summer.

The latest intel held that Bentley was going to make his decision later in the month after he was home from the Elite 11 competition. The longer that decision went on, the better the Sooners have felt about landing Bentley.

However, a recent shift in his process brings some potentially tremendous news for the Sooners. Instead of heading home after the Elite 11, Bentley will be making a trip to Norman for the Sooners' 2025 ChampU BBQ, alongside several other elite recruits that Oklahoma is chasing in the class of 2026.

In an article just this morning, I was skeptical about his appearance happening this weekend. Turns out, I was wrong. That's a very, very welcome sign for the Sooners.

I don't believe it's a coincidence that Jaden O'Neal, a longtime quarterback commit for the Sooners, decommitted, and less than 12 hours later, this intel starts to break. It feels more and more likely that the Sooners have landed their quarterback of the future.

There's plenty of well-deserved buzz around Bentley. The borderline five-star prospect has turned heads at the Elite 11 competition, finishing as one of the best quarterbacks there. He led Celina to a Texas state championship last season as a junior, and had a meteoric rise up the recruiting rankings after his junior season.

It feels like Bentley could be the spark that ignites the rest of Oklahoma's class. The Sooners are in the hunt for several major playmakers on both sides of the ball, and having their quarterback of the future in could be a boon for them in the rest of their recruiting.

What a win this would be for new offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle and head coach Brent Venables.
