Lane Kiffin obviously made the wrong decision, at least as things currently stand. Who knows, he could go on to win a National Championship with the LSU Tigers. Who knows, the Ole Miss Rebels could go on and win it all this year, as they did just beat the Georgia Bulldogs in the Sugar Bowl. One thing is for certain: Kiffin didn’t leave Ole Miss because it’s not likely you can win there. They are one more win away from a National Championship appearance.

Rebels have more Sugar Bowl wins than LSU does

After beating Georgia in the Sugar Bowl, the Rebels quickly learned they would face the Miami Hurricanes in the next round. The winner goes on to the National Championship and plays either Indiana or the Oregon Ducks. After beating Georgia in the Sugar Bowl, Ole Miss now has more all-time Sugar Bowl wins than LSU, and Pete Golding has more playoff wins than Kiffin.

You see, it’s not about winning, and it never was.

You leave your team that just made the CFP for a job you feel like is better, yet isn’t in the CFP and has been bad for some time now. You show that you basically don’t believe in those players to win it all, or why else would you leave? Isn’t the main goal to win National Championships?

You have that opportunity in Oxford, right now. Or had, I should say. You don’t have that in LSU. I get LSU has the National Championships all-time, but Ole Miss is ready to win right now, and you bailed on them.

So then it becomes obvious that you’re only doing this for the money and the attention, not the kids or the winning. Then, after all of those, your players on your former team turn on you. On Thursday, Ole Miss cemented its place in College Football Playoff history, where LSU has never been in this new 12-team format; Ole Miss has been there almost twice.

Golding is doing a fantastic job with Ole Miss. If he keeps this up, who knows? Maybe he wins Ole Miss’ first-ever National Championship.
