The Oregon Ducks defensive front has been the backbone of the No. 1 team in college football, highlighted by two guys that are game-wreckers up front — Jordan Burch and Derrick Harmon.
The two of them have length, athleticism, and have the stats to back up their dominance. And yet, my wonderful coworkers at A to Z Sports, have managed to leave both of them out of the first round in their latest 2025 NFL mock draft.
Burch, one of the best combinations of length and athleticism at the defensive end in all of college football, may not be on the front of peoples' minds because he has been out with an injury the last two weeks, but through the first five games of the season, Burch had 5 sacks, 14 hurries, and 21 pressures, according to PFF.
For Burch, his closing speed and ability to change direction will likely grab the attention of the NFL scouting community.
Harmon, however, has been even more of a standout this year than Burch. From the defensive tackle position, no player in college football has been more disruptive than Harmon.
Harmon currently leads all defensive tackles in college football with 28 total pressures on 137 pass rush snaps — he's getting a pressure on over 20% of his pass rush attempts. For context, the second-most pressures at the defensive tackle position belongs to Walter Nolen from Ole Miss with 22, but it's taken him 220 pass rush snaps to do it — that's 10%.
Harmon plays as a three-technique defensive tackle, is stout against the run, and is showing the ability to collapse the pocket and get to the quarterback. Harmon has three sacks, three quarterback hits, two batted passes, and a fumble recovery that saw him rip the ball out of the hands of standout Ohio State running back Quinshon Judkins.
Both Harmon and Burch have the talent to be in consideration for the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. They're disruptive, athletic, and have a nose for the football. As the Ducks continue to get more national recognition, their names will begin to pop up more and more.
Oregon Ducks predicted to land the No. 1 overall player in 2026 recruiting class
This would be huge.
