Oregon has been aggressively pursuing offensive line in the 2026 recruiting class, being linked to the No. 1 and No. 2 overall players, offensive linemen Jackson Cantwell and Immanuel Iheanacho. Clearly Dan Lanning has a vision for the roster he wants to build, bolstering the trenches to have a pipeline of talent to develop.
Iheanacho has recently cut down his list of potential schools to seven, and the Ducks are still in the mix.
The 6-foot-7, 350 lbs offensive lineman already has elite size. Looking at his seven final teams — Oregon, Maryland, Penn State, Alabama, LSU, Texas A&M, and Auburn, and his selections are divided between the SEC and Big Ten. He hasn't yet ruled out his home state team, Maryland, with the other six programs giving him an opportunity compete at elite programs.
Immanuel Iheanacho previously said that he wants his family to feel at home wherever he attends school. Eugene, a college town over two hours away from Oregon's biggest airport in Portland, is definitely a tougher location to get to. It's something that has plagued Oregon's recruiting in the past. For Iheanacho and his family, it's a long travel day from Eugene to Portland before flying across the country to get back to Maryland.
Iheanacho has also pointed out the fact that the coaching staff at Oregon has had recent success with developing offensive linemen on their way to the the NFL. This year, Josh Conerly Jr. is being considered a potential first round talent, one year after Jackson Powers-Johnson went 44th overall to the Las Vegas Raiders. Iheanacho has the frame and the talent to be a high-impact offensive lineman with NFL aspirations. Which program will give him the best opportunity to develop should be heavily considered before making his decision.

That’s a great get for Lanning.
