Even though college football has gone through a ton of changes and conference realignments, individual universities have done a great job of keeping traditions alive by making sure longstanding rivalries continue to get played. With the last week of the regular season upon us, rivalry week is still going strong.
Oregon will host Washington at Autzen Stadium on Saturday night, looking to cap off an undefeated season for the first time since 2010 on their way to the Big Ten Championship. Here's what our staff thinks of the game:
Oregon 37, Washington 14
Last year, Oregon and Washington provided two of the best and most highly-contested games in all of college football, but this year looks to be a different story. Washington lost their head coach, offensive coordinator, quarterback, top three wide receivers, top running back, left tackle, and a slew of others in the offseason, making this a completely different team than last year's squad. Ducks head coach Dan Lanning is going to have his team ready to go and focused on carrying strong momentum into the Big Ten Championship, and with wide receiver Tez Johnson expected back, Oregon should control this game from wire to wire. Fresh off a bye week, Ducks by a million. -Jon Helmkamp
Oregon 34 Washinton 17
The Huskies are not the same team that went to the National Championship last year, and the Oregon Ducks look even better. These two teams played more than once last year and put on a show every time. But this year it feels like the Ducks are going to run away with this game. The Ducks' explosive offense and great defense is going to be too much for the Huskies to handle. This could be a game where Dillon Gabriel continues to push for his case for Heisman, and I think he will only prove even further he is the most deserving of the quarterbacks. -Justin Churchill
Oregon 34, Washington 23
The Pac 12 rivalry gets revitalized in its new conference for the first time as the Ducks take on the Huskies. When looking at both teams, it’s a significant disparity between them. The Ducks are very balanced and consistent on both sides of the football, but the one area where the Huskies can take advantage is on the ground. Jonah Coleman is one of the best backs in the country and the Ducks’ biggest weakness is defending the run. The Huskies have won the the last three games in the rivalry but Michael Penix Jr. isn’t walking out of the tunnel. Expect a close game for the first three quarters, but the Ducks will find a way to take control and get the win. -Tyler Forness
Why Oregon losing the Big Ten Championship might actually create the Ducks’ most meaningful CFP path
Maybe winning isn’t the best thing.
