Florida State Seminoles get some of their own bad news to match Alabama’s before facing off against each other to start 2025
The Florida State Seminoles join the Alabama Crimson Tide in having injury news before their matchup.
Most people have the Alabama Crimson Tide beating the Florida State Seminoles to start the year, but after an injury on the Tide’s side, the Seminoles did have a bit of a boost when it comes to their chances at beating the best program in college football history.
Most people have Alabama winning that game, and it makes sense when you think about the two rosters. Sure, this is not the same two-win roster from last year, as only a handful of the projected starters are returning from last season. But now the Tide have an obstacle, one of their best players being out for a bit, and he was certainly going to be a guy they relied heavily on.
Jam Miller is a guy who was projected to be in that conversation for the 2025 season as the team’s likely starting running back. But, earlier this week, he suffered a dislocated collarbone and could be out for 6-8 weeks, although a timetable for his return has not yet been made public by Alabama.
“Jam Miller suffered an upper-body injury in Saturday’s scrimmage and went in for a procedure on Saturday evening,” Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer said in a statement. “Jam should recover fully with a timetable for his return yet to be determined.”
This leaves Alabama with Richard Young, Daniel Hill, Kevin Riley, Louisiana transfer Dre Washington, and top 100 high school recruit AK Dear. Young, Hill, and Washington seem to be the guys who will get the carries against Florida State.
The Seminoles have some of their own injury issues now, too.
Seminoles have injury problems before facing Alabama
Last year, the Seminoles finished with just two wins, and it was made known pretty quickly that Mike Norvell is on the hot seat. Sure, he had a stellar season a few years ago, going undefeated. But, in this new era of college football, you can never win just two games, especially when you’re a program like Florida State.
So, beating Alabama would be huge to start their 2025. Now things just got a bit harder for them, too. Before they started fall camp, it was made known that one of their best receivers, Squirrel White, was healthy after not being healthy for a pretty good amount of time.
Now, he’s not healthy anymore.
This doesn’t mean that he will miss the game against Alabama, but Norvell mentioned during media availability that White had “something come up,” and that thing that he had come up is going to limit him in practice leading up to the game.
So, we will find out if he’s going to be ready to go, but it certainly does throw a bit of a wrench in their plans.
